This audio teaching introduces the study on the 7 churches of Revelation (Chapters 2 & 3). The apostle John received perhaps the greatest revelation/vision given to man in the history of the world. He saw amazing things while exiled on the small island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea. Just as Paul wrote to 7 churches, John also wrote to seven churches. Seven is the key number in Revelation. In Revelation 1, John gets a magnificent vision of the exalted Jesus in all of His brilliance and glory. John must see Jesus in His glory because he will see tremendous persecution against Christians in Revelation. He needs to know that Jesus is Lord and on His throne. Next, Jesus reveals to John, in Chapters 2 & 3, all the defects, flaws, and imperfections of His church. It is an imperfect church - quite unlike Him. With many of the churches, Jesus threats them with judgment and severe discipline if they don't repent. Repentance becomes a key word in these chapters. Finally, we look at the word "angel" which is mentioned seven times in Chapters 2 & 3. It is a real heaven being or a human? Is it an angel or a church leader? The lecture notes for this audio teaching are above under the complete course - pages 6-9.
