This is the verse by verse audio teaching of Revelation 2:12-17. The city of Pergamos was filled with temples, idols and emperor worship. Christians were persecuted even to death in the wicked city. The One who had the sharp two-edged sword was speaking to a church that had given into false doctrines. These believers lived where Satan lived. The devil himself had his headquarters ("throne") there. They held fast His name and did not deny the faith. Antipas was killed there. Yet, Jesus had a few things against them. While holding fast to Jesus' Name, they also held fast to the false doctrines of Balaam and the Nicolaitans. They were commanded to "repent or else." If they did not repent Jesus would personally fight against them with the sword in His mouth. For those who overcame, Jesus promised the "hidden manna" and a "white stone." These are symbols of eternal life and living with Jesus forever. The lecture notes with homework and PowerPoint file are above.
