This is the verse by verse audio teaching of Revelation 3:1-6. The church at Sardis had a reputation for being alive, but Jesus said that "you are dead." They needed the Spirit of Life (3:1) and the Book of Life (3:5). Jesus commanded them to repent. They were spiritually dead because their prayer life was dead. "Be watchful" (3:2) and "if you will not watch" are both clear indications of what was missing - prayer. If they didn't get back into prayer and seeking the Lord, He was going to come in personal judgment against them. They would not be warned again for He would come as a thief. Just a puny number of Christians at Sardis had not "defiled themselves." Those who overcame and conquered over sin, flesh, and the devil would put on white garments of righteousness and their names would not be blotted out of the Lamb's Book of life.
