This is a verse by verse audio teaching of Revelation 3:14-22. This is the final audio teaching in this series. This is probably the best known of the seven churches because of the graphic (negative) language that Jesus used to describe this church. It is famously known as the "lukewarm" church. Jesus reveals Himself to this church as "The Amen, the Faithful and True Witness." He is totally other than the indifferent Laodiceans. They were neither cold nor hot. They were so complacent and half-hearted that Jesus would soon vomit them out of His mouth. They made Jesus sick! They, however, though that they were doing pretty good. Their prosperity and material wealth deceived them into independence and self-sufficiency. They were THE wretched people, par excellence. Jesus commanded them to buy from Him, and Him alone, all that they really needed - true spiritual riches, spiritual clothing, and spiritual eyesalve. Those He loves, He rebukes and disciplines. Two great promises appear in verses 20-21 - to dine on earth and to reign in heaven. It's incredible to think that lukewarm people could repent, overcome, and be restored to eventually reign and sit on His throne! What an incredible act of God's grace.
