This is our seventh audio teaching in the Anger Series. No place in Scripture reveals the madness and folly of anger like the Wisdom Literature of Ecclesiastes and especially Proverbs. Ecclesiastes 7:9 says that "anger labels you a fool." Anger is foolish. In this teaching we cover ten major sections of Proverbs regarding anger. We start in Proverbs, Chapter 14 where Solomon says that we must be "slow to anger," or have a "short-nose." We cannot have a "short-fuse" or our explosions of anger will cause enormous problems. A "soft answer" turns away wrath, but "harsh words" stir up anger. We also need the Spirit's power to "overlook" insults and trangressions. Too many Christians let everything bother them. We need to "get over it" and "stop it." Some issues are just a waste of time and breath. If you deliver or rescue an angry man once, you will have to do it again. Anger is very difficult to break in a man. We are also exhorted not to make any friendship with an angry or furious man lest we learn his ways and get a snare for our soul. Anger is fierce and cruel. It is a flood that sweeps away wife, children, and other loved ones. A person given to anger will commit many sins and greatly hinder his relationship with the Lord.
